The first flight left to the jack-up vessel Vole au vent carrying employees of Ørsted and the vessel provider Jan de Nul.

Following a tender process in 2017, the two companies signed a contract for the transport of passengers, luggage and cargo to the offshore wind farm located in the German North Sea.

Earlier this week, Vole au vent installed the first monopile at the offshore site some 40km off the island of Borkum. The jack-up vessel will transport and install 36 monopiles and transition pieces in total.

The Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm will comprise 56 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines installed on 20 suction bucket jacket foundations and 36 monopile foundations.

The wind farm is expected to be fully commissioned in 2019.
