The MoU was signed between TÜV SÜD and Taiwan’s Metals Industry Research & Development Center (MIRDC), CR Classification Society, Electronics Testing Center, Taiwan Electronic Research and Testing Center and Taiwan Institute of Economic Research.

It includes collaboration in terms of research, testing and certification activities related to offshore wind farms in Taiwan.

The Taiwanese government has also supported the partnership.

Chia-Min Wei, Vice President at Metals Industry Research and Development Centre (MIRD), said: “Our partnership with TÜV SÜD is helping us to achieve our aim of rapidly building our own body of expertise and drive the expansion of Taiwan’s offshore wind energy industry.”

This August, MIRDC completed the 3-year training project with TÜV SÜD and is now accredited by the Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) to carry out measurements related to wind turbines.
