Ampyx Starts Building AP3 Prototype. Launches Crowdfunding Campaign

Ampyx Power, the airborne wind energy technology developer which entered a collaboration with E.ON on 11 April, started building an AP3 aircraft prototype at the end of March and launched a crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising investments of EUR 2.5 million to finance activities towards commercialisation of its technology.

After an extensive design phase, Ampyx kicked off the construction of its AP3 device as Orange Aircraft in Breda started the production of plugs and moulds for the 250kW prototype. A scaled up version, the 2MW commercial system (AP4), will be available from 2020, according to the company.

Furthermore, along with the announcement of its cooperation with E.ON, Ampyx Power informed that it had launched a new crowdfunding campaign targeting investments of EUR 2.5 million and that it had raised EUR 2 million in new equity from its existing shareholder base, which provides a solid financial foundation for the new crowdfunding campaign. These investments will be completed in the next few weeks.

Since Ampyx Power’s first crowdfunding campaign in 2013, about 400 informal investors have invested over EUR 4 million, the company said.
