VIDEO: The Story of Alstom’s Haliade Offshore Wind Turbine

Alstom has published a video about its Haliade™ 150-6MW offshore wind turbine, its onshore and offshore installations and projects that will feature the turbine.

The first prototype of this turbine was tested at an onshore site at Carnet, near St Nazaire. In November 2013, Alstom installed the second prototype at the Belwind site 45km offshore Ostend harbor in Belgium.

In April 2012, the consortium led by EDF EN for which Alstom is the exclusive turbine supplier won three offshore wind farms in France (Saint-Nazaire, Courseulles-sur-Mer and Fécamp) with a total of around 240 wind turbines. Alstom has since confirmed setting up four facilities in France: two in Saint-Nazaire dedicated to nacelles and generators assembly, and two in Cherbourg for blades and towers manufacturing. Saint-Nazaire factories have been inaugurated in December 2014.

In 2014, Alstom signed a contract to supply five offshore wind turbines for Deepwater Wind’s 30-MW Block Island pilot wind farm located off the coast of Rhode Island, USA. The project, scheduled for commissioning in 2016, will be one of the first offshore wind farms in the U.S. and will be the world’s first to feature Alstom’s Haliade™ 150-6 MW.
