ZPMC Nets Taiwanese Offshore Wind Job

Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry (ZPMC) has been contracted to carry out offshore wind installation work in Taiwan.

The company has signed a framework cooperation deal with an offshore wind developer SWE Green & Sustainable, which plans to erect more than 30 wind turbines off the Taiwanese coast by 2020, according to Chinese media.

At the end of last yeear, ZPMC signed a 5-year bareboat charter agreement with RWE’s subidiaryOffshore Logistics Company (OLC) for Friedrich Ernestine, one of the largest and most advanced vessels of its kind. The vessel is supposed to boost ZPMC’s offshore wind capabilities and put the company to the forefront of Asian offshore wind market.

In 2013, ZPMC launched an offshore wind jack-up installation platform, with a swing lifting capacity of 800 tons and a maximum operating water depth of 30 meters.
