Dong Selects Semco for Telecommunications in North Sea

Dong Energy has selected Danish contracting and engineering company Semco Maritime to establish a new offshore telecommunication infrastructure in the North Sea.

With a total value of up to DKK 100 million, the order is Semco Maritime’s largest ever in offshore wind telecommunications.

The order includes construction of inter-field and offshore-to-onshore communication networks for up to four major DONG Energy operated wind turbine parks in the North Sea. The project includes SemTetra, VHF radio communication systems, data networks, PABX, telephone systems, Line of Sight systems and Automatic Identification Systems for safety. It also covers installation of Semco Maritime’s patented SemTetra Air repeater solutions making it possible for service personal to communicate from inside a wind turbine tower.
