Wales Sets Up New Energy Unit. Prioritises Marine Energy.

Edwina Hart, Welsh Minister for Economy, Science and Transport has written a statement on energy in Wales, in which she announces the establishment of new Energy Wales Unit that focuses and consolidates Welsh Government energy policy and its effective and well coordinated delivery.

The Unit will update and develop energy policy, including low carbon generation, infrastructure, demand reduction and the fossil fuel transition. Hart also pointed out that the new Energy Wales Unit will prioritise marine energy.

“The team will now work with industry and representative bodies to define the core policy and delivery priorities that need to be driven hard to secure the Welsh position at the UK level and set the context for investment. This work will enable clarity on the range of skills, supply chain, business and R&D support needed to harness Wales’ energy potential,” Hart said.
