‘Cable Enterprise’ Good to Go

Croatian Viktor Lenac Shipyard, specialised in ship repair and conversions, successfully completed the conversion of the cable laying barge Cable Enterprise and delivered it to Prysmian on March 13, 2015.

Viktor Lenac Shipyard won the project worth more than EUR 22 million in February 2014. The conversion has transformed the Cable Enterprise from a moored cable laying barge into a DP2 cable laying barge able to use its own propulsion within a work site. This makes the vessel fully geared for offshore wind farm interconnections.

The work took a little over seven months and the shipyard said that the conversion of Cable Enterprise was the most demanding one from technical point of view.

The barge is now on its way to Norway to load on a power cable, and then it will sail to the United States to lay cables for Exxon Mobile, as its first job after the conversion.
