Van Oord Kicks Off Eneco Luchterduinen Foundation Installation
Van Oord kicked off the construction works on a 129MW wind farm located in the Dutch area of the North Sea.
The wind energy project will comprise 43 Vestas V112 wind turbines installed 23 kilometers off the Dutch coast near Noordwijk and Zandvoort. It will be able to produce clean electricity for nearly 150,000 households.
Luchterduinen will feature new foundations where the monopile and the transition piece, which are usually built as two separate components, are built as a single component.
They were fabricated in the city of Roermond by Sif Group, a provider of steel structures for the offshore wind and oil & gas industry.
The wind farm, a joint operation between the Japanese company Mitsubishi Corporation and Eneco Group, is expected to be completed by the mid 2015.
