First DanTysk Wind Turbine Erected

Vattenfall launched the installation of the first wind turbine at the DanTysk offshore wind farm site in the North Sea yesterday.

Eleven months after installing the first foundation, the DT 01 turbine is being installed on the very same location. At the moment, the nacelle is in place, and the blades are yet to come.

“Dense fog has prevented work for more than a day. Luckily, fog usually comes with no wind, so the first tower and nacelle were installed after the weather cleared up,” the company said.

DanTysk offshore wind farm is located 70 kilometres west of the island of Sylt, in water depths of 21 to 32 metres. It will comprise 80 Siemens wind turbines classed at 3.6 megawatts.
