Hartlepool: The Best Place for Offshore Wind, Says Council Member

Hartlepool Best Place for Offshore Wind, Says Council Member

Hartlepool Borough Council’s assistant director, Damien Wilson believes that this town is the “best facility on the east coast for offshore wind.”

Even though the port has attracted some major investments Wilson thinks that the Government still needs to set the guidelines on tariffs for offshore energy and grants, writes the Hartlepool Mail.

Hartlepool already has deep water facilities and the engineering skill but with no government support the area has not seen any major companies bring their business there. Just last year in March, Spanish wind energy giant, Gamesa, chose Leith in Scotland over Hartlepool for its £125m superdeal.

Nevertheless, JDR and Heerema Hartlepool, two already successful companies that are doing business in offshore wind market, prove that the potential in Hartlepool exists.
