The Netherlands: Abis Names New Multi Purpose Heavy Cargo Ship

Abis Shipping held a naming ceremony for its 15th vessel, the MS ABIS Dundee, at the port of Harlingen at 16:30 today (July 3).

The MS ABIS Dundee was christened by Cynthia Dijkstra-van den Broek, wife of Mr Jan Dijkstra, the director of Bouwgroep Dijkstra Draisma.

It is the third ship from a series of four which Abis brings to the market. The ABIS Dover and ABIS Dublin were the first ships from the D series and came into service in 2012. The ship is based in part on the company’s successful B series, which won the prestigious KVNR Shipping Award in 2010
