Denmark: Auditors of Public Accounts Find DONG Energy's Electricity Prices to Be Competitive

In April 2012, the auditors of public accounts asked Rigsrevisionen – the Danish National Audit Office – to investigate DONG Energy’s electricity prices and some of the aspects affecting the electricity price. The auditors of public accounts published their report Wednesday afternoon.

The report determines that DONG Energy’s prices:

  • have been in line with the average prices on electricity based on supply obligation in the eastern part of Denmark in the period between 2007-2013
  • have been lower than other suppliers’ prices on energy from renewable sources in Denmark in 2012
  • have been among the lowest prices in the period 2008-2012 compared to the Scandinavian countries, Germany and the UK, when cleaned from taxes and duties.

Lars Clausen, Executive Vice President, is pleased with the conclusions of the report:

“I consider our credibility with our customers to be crucial. Therefore, I find it very positive that we now have the documentation clearly determining that we have competitive prices. And it’s also very satisfying that we have a very attractive price on our electricity product based on renewable energy.”
