Examination of the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm project has closed.
The Planning Inspectorate (PINS) wrote to interested parties on 21 January 2013 notifying them of completion of the Examination. The findings and conclusions arising from the Examination, together with a recommendation from PINS will be sent to the Secretary of State within three months.
The development proposal comprises the construction and operation of up to 288 wind turbine generators in the North Sea approximately 20 miles off the coast of Lincolnshire. According to the developer RWE, Triton Knoll could generate up to 1,200 MW of renewable energy providing enough electricity to meet the average needs of up to 850,000 households each year.
