The Netherlands: ATO & We@Sea to Host Conference on Offshore Wind Development

We@Sea and ATO are organizing the offshore wind conference for the third time and it will be held at the Holiday Inn in IJmuiden on Thursday 6th December 2012.

Since the last Dutch conference in 2010, there are many new facts:

  • A new government
  • Need for cost cutting (40% ??)
  • New regulations developments (i.e. streamlining permit procedures, infrastructure)
  • Spatial planning; new wind areas
  • New research and development programs
  • International technology development
  • Involvement in offshore projects in the U.K. en Germany
  • Market situation & supply chain
  • Problems with the out roll of electrical infrastructure

The government accord looks promising. It states that it creates major changes and even necessary breakthroughs in the field of energy policy. The coalition partners are striving for 16% renewable energy in 2020. To achieve this goal offshore wind energy is key. Offshore wind energy will have an important share in the energy mix of the future.

The success off offshore wind energy is in the hands of professionals. They have to work together to cutting costs, improve efficiency, create jobs and making the case for independent and clean energy future.
