Germany: Liebherr Crawler Cranes Fit Substation Jacket for Borkum West II

Two 750 tonne Liebherr LR 1750 crawler cranes have fitted a jacket for substation of the Borkum West II offshore wind farm.

The tandem work was done successfully at the ABC-Halbinsel offshore terminal in Bremerhaven, which is used for the temporary storage of offshore wind farms and for loadingthe equipment onto construction vessels for offshore installation.

The cranes positioned the 600 tonne upper section of the jacket on top of the 900 tonne lower section, the Heavy Lift PFI news site informs.

Experts from crane and heavy load specialist Schmidbauer, a company contracted by BLG, did the engineering work, adjustment and crane operations planning.

The underlying substation platform structure was built by WeserWind GmbH Offshore Construction Georgsmarienhütte which cooperated with BLG Logistics Solutions GmbH & Co. KG on transport and warehouse logistics related to this project.
