UK: Seacat Services Contracts Its Two Multi-Purpose WFSVs

Seacat Services, the Isle of Wight based wind farm support vessel operator, announced the signing of operational contracts for it’s two 19m (21m LOA) DNV class multi-purpose windfarm support vessels, ‘Seacat Endeavour’ and ‘Seacat Reliance’.

The vessels will commence operations as a pair on DONG Energy’s Anholt windfarm, Denmark, in July 2012 for cable manufacturer Nexans GmbH. They will be primarily tasked with the safe and efficient transfer of two teams of jointers and their equipment for final termination and testing of the cables following installation.

Seacat Services own and operate DNV classed crew transfer vessels within an in-house designed bespoke and dynamic International Safety Management (ISM) system, voluntary for vessels under 500GRT. In addition to the ISM all windfarm specific QHSE requirements and ISO 9001,14001 and 18001 have been incorporated within the company safety management system. Currently the company has two 19m and four 24m vessels on order.

Ian Baylis, Managing Director of Seacat Services, is quoted as saying “We are thrilled to take our first bold and decisive step into the European market. We have structured the company and selected vessels specifically for future planned and consented projects and are pleased to see nearly all of our enquiries concerning European windfarms. The signing of these 2 contracts is a pivotal moment in the development of the company and we very much look forward to working together with Nexans for a successful project conclusion”.

Thorben Mueller, Project Manager of Nexans Deutschland GmbH is quoted as saying “Nexans is pleased to sign this contract with Seacat Services because we are very impressed by their professionalism and safety awareness, even though Seacat Services is new to the industry. The Vessel technology allows a more flexible planning of our work at site, so we are also looking forward to working together with them on the Anholt Project.”

‘Seacat Endeavour’ will attend ‘Seawork 2012’ in Southampton between the 22nd and 24th of May 2012, before heading to Denmark.
