South Korea is going to invest around 1 billion US dollars into research and development of energy industry, reports Xinhuanet

The ministry planned to give support to several sectors such as solar power, offshore wind power, fuel cell and solar photovoltaic cell sector, to help them expand in overseas markets.

It is also planned to reduce energy costs by enhancing the efficiency of energy-inefficient home appliances.

Government hopes that it will secure stable supply of electricity, safety of nuclear reactors, and help development of local companies and new future technologies.
