Cape Wind to Start with Production by Mid-2015 (USA)

New England’s power grid manager said that the Cape Wind offshore wind project is unlikely to start producing electricity by mid-2015, even though Cape Wind officials think otherwise, reports The Associated Press.

Proposed in 2001, Cape Wind is still seeking buyers for the unsold half of its power.

For the sold part of projects power, the timeline plays a great role.

According to the contract Cape wind must begin the construction by December 31, 2013, and commence the power production by December 31, 2015.

These dates can be extended, but the developers would have to pay a non-refundable security deposit of about $2.3 million.
