Golf Club to Make Decision on Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm (UK)

Members of one of the oldest golf club in the world will make a decision regarding a proposed wind farm offshore Aberdeen.

Royal Aberdeen Golf Club director Ronnie Macaskill said that he expects the decision to be made in January.

The European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre is being developed by Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm Ltd (AOWFL), comprising current partners Vattenfall Wind Power UK , Technip and Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG).

In August 2010 AOWFL was awarded exclusive rights by The Crown Estate to develop the project in a zone off the City of Aberdeen. This innovative project has a grant award of up to forty million Euros from the European Union.

Donald Trump opposes this project saying they will ruin the view from his golf resort.

In his letter to the First Minister Alex Salmond he described the wind turbines as “big” and “ugly”.
