Entries Open for Offshore Achievement Awards 2012 (UK)

The search is launched today for the brightest and best talent and achievements in the Energy industry over the last year.  The prestigious Offshore Achievement Awards, recently re-launched by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen section with the support of main sponsor Taqa Bratani, are now open for entries.

For the first time in their 26-year history, the awards are open to offshore renewable companies as well as traditional Oil & Gas players, with a new category, Marine Renewable Energy, specifically devoted to the sector.

There is also an increased focus on developing new technology and applications with two categories honouring innovation – New Idea and The Innovator. And to reflect the growing reach of the North Sea industry, the awards are open to entries from UK-registered companies.

SPE Chairman Masud Javaid, of Total E&P UK, said: “Since we announced the news during the Offshore Europe exhibition that we were re-launching the awards, we have been delighted by the response from industry. As well as our main sponsor Taqa Bratani, many prominent names in industry are sponsoring individual categories.

“The awards have been generally regarded as the most prestigious in the Energy industry calendar and there has been huge competition each year among innovative, forward-thinking companies operating in our sector to be recognised as outstanding world leaders. We know to expect a high level and exceptional quality of entries and are looking forward very much to the awards ceremony next year.’’

The awards will honour overall outstanding growth and focus on particular innovations, safety breakthroughs and collaborative efforts contributing to ensure the UK remains at the forefront of the international energy scene. Individual success will also be highlighted through the Rising Star and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Entries for the awards, previously organised by Scottish Enterprise, must be submitted by December 19, with judging taking place early in the New Year. The Black Tie awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 15, next year at the Ardoe House Hotel, Aberdeen.
