South Boats Special Projects Ltd. Announces New CEO (UK)

South Boats Special Projects Ltd. has today announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Neil Ackroyd, commencing 1st July 2010.

Neil has been given the remit to grow the business and take advantage of the huge potential in the offshore wind services sector.

Speaking at an official announcement Neil stated, “South Boats is already the world’s leading designer and builder of offshore wind farm crew vessels with the best quality and most reliable aluminium catamarans. My focus will be quite simply to enable the team to commission more of them with an aim to deliver in excess of 100 vessels per annum within 3 years.”

The announcement comes at a time of huge potential for South Boats with several new wind farms around the UK about to start construction and many more in the planning stages.

Clive Jeffery, the owner of South Boats announced “We are very proud of what we have achieved so far at South Boats. Looking to the next few years we see that the huge growth potential facing us requires high level management and strategy skills. South Boats is very lucky to have attracted someone of Neil’s calibre and we look forward to a very exciting future.”

South Boats can also confirm that an agreement has been reached for a multi year extension to its current lease at Medina Ship Yard securing the current home of the company for many years.

Following a very successful Seawork 2010, South Boats’ Sales Director Ben Colman confirms that in addition to the eighteen vessels currently in build or on order, contracts have just been signed for a further four vessels, totaling £5.4m, immediately following the exhibition. “The current work load and order book confirms the wind industry requirement for the South Catamaran crew vessels and places the company as the clear market leader”.
