Nordsee One Turbines Taking Shape (Gallery)

Nordsee One GmbH has shared several photos showing the installation of the first and the second Senvion 6.2M126 turbine at the 332MW Nordsee One offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The wind farm will comprise 54 turbines installed some 40 kilometres north off the island of Juist and scheduled for commissioning in by the end of 2017.

The two sets of wind turbines, each consisting of a fully assembled steel tower, a nacelle and a pre-assembled rotor, were loaded onto the installation vessel MPI Enterprise at the Port of Eemshaven last week.

The nacelles weigh around 335 tonnes and are equivalent in size to a detached single-family home. The turbine towers measure almost 70 metres overall in length, and weigh over 240 tonnes. Each rotor blade is 61 meters in length and weighs approximately 20 tonnes.

Nordsee One is owned by Northland Power Inc. (85%) and innogy SE (15%).
