Humber Business Delegation Visits Denmark

Siemens eröffnet weltgrößte Testzentren für Windturbinen in Dänemark / Siemens opens world’s largest wind turbine R&D test facilities

Team Humber Marine Alliance (THMA) and Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) organised a visit to Denmark for a delegation of Humber companies working in the offshore wind supply chain, writes the Grimsby Telegraph.

Around 20 businesses and organisations toured the main production facilities of Siemens Wind Power in Brande.

Delegates also visited ‘Energy Metropolis’ Esbjerg, along with its offshore wind harbour facilities.

“It was a very educational visit. It certainly gave you an idea of the sheer scale of the operation that Siemens have in Brande where they manufacture the nacelles for the turbines, and the large area that has been made available in Esbjerg. To be there and see it was incredible,” said Kurt Christensen, managing director of Grimsby-based Windpower Support.

The three-day visit took place in conjunction with overseas partners Windcluster Norway and Targeting Innovation, as part of the North Sea Offshore Wind conference 2013.

Companies and organisations that went to Denmark included Blue Water Danbrit, Carlbom Shipping, Collett Marine, Dalby Offshore, DFDS Seaways, Green Marine Solutions, Mechan, Mullion Survival Technology, the University of Hull, Wind Power Performance and Wind Power Support.
