Delegations Visit German Offshore Wind Sites

Delegations Visit German Offshore Wind SitesTwo international delegations, Representatives from the Iwaki City from the Fukushima prefecture in Japan and Business Representatives of the Norwegian offshore industry, are currently visiting the sites of the German offshore industry.

“So many international delegations that we received again show that they take our offshore industry as an example to find solutions for the future,” says Ronny Meyer, CEO of Wind Energy Agency WAB. Besides Germany, almost all European countries with a coastline are developing offshore wind energy. The offshore wind energy plays a central role in meeting the climate change goals of the European Union.

According to the WAB, the total installed capacity of offshore wind turbines in Europe will increase tenfold by 2020. Most wind farms will be installed in the North Sea. The UK and Denmark are currently leading in the number of installed offshore wind farms.
