For the new helicopter deck, Alewijnse will deliver and install upgrades of existing systems, a helicopter monitoring system, as well as a dedicated fire-fighting system which can be operated from the bridge.

The work will take place in the first quarter of 2019 following the vessel’s completion of a decommissioning job in the North Sea.

This new contract follows Alewijnse’s previous electrical system integration and automation works on board Apollo before its delivery in August.

“I feel confident with this latest challenge, which extends the history of fruitful cooperation between Alewijnse and DEME, that it will result in the deployment of technically advanced solutions which contribute to the vessel’s strategic competitive advantage,” said Alewijnse Product Manager Johan van Rikxoort.

Apollo, built in Uljanik in Croatia, is equipped with four 106.8m long legs that allow it to work at depths of down to 70m.

The multi-purpose 87.5m vessel has a deadweight of 5,196t and is able to reach a speed of 11.92kn powered by the main engines: 4 x ABC 2,688kW and 2 x ABC 1,512kW.

It offers standard accommodation for 90 people, and is intended for various operations such as wind turbine installation, heavy load transportation and assembly, and can also be used as an accommodation platform.
