Shift in Perspective Shifts Focus – Artistic Approach to Offshore Wind Energy

Dance artists from Muskegon in the U.S. State of Michigan have found a way to show the significance of offshore wind energy by observing it from another point of view.

University of Michigan’s (UM) School of Music, Theatre & Dance and School of Natural Resources and Environment have created a synergy between art and science, trying to change the perception of those who consider wind energy technology to be ugly.

“There’s such a natural affinity between the motion of wind and the motion of human bodies,” said Jessica Fogel from UM School of Music, Theatre & Dance.

Sara Adlerstein Gonzalez from UM School of Natural Resources and Environment said: “I would like to change people’s perception about beauty by giving them information about what is actually being replaced. What is beauty at the end? What you have as an energy source now or a potential change?”
