The firm period is expiring at the end of August 2023 and Ørsted has now declared an option to extend the contract, in direct continuation, by another year.

According to a press release from Edda Wind, the contract has been extended at a day rate “subject to annual escalation”.

The 1.2 GW Hornsea One, operational since January 2020, comprises 174 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines and is generating enough energy to power over one million homes in the UK.

Last year, the offshore wind farm was taken off the throne of the world’s biggest wind farm in operation as Ørsted commissioned the 1.3 GW Hornsea Two.
