Wind Farm Offshore Ningbo Becomes Fully Operational

The first phase of the Guodian Xiangshan 1 offshore wind farm project in East China’s Zhejiang Province became fully operational on 23 December.

Located in the southeastern part of Hepu Town, Xiangshan County of Ningbo, the 254.2 MW first phase comprises 41 6.2 MW wind turbines connected to a 220-kilovolt offshore booster station.

A five-kilometer dedicated transmission line links the booster to the onshore centralized control center.

The construction of phase one started on 25 December 2020. The total investment was around CNY 4.4 billion (EUR 610 million).

The Guodian Xiangshan 1 is the first offshore wind power project in Ningbo, according to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). Phase two of the project has a capacity of 500 MW.

It is the second offshore wind power project developed by GD Power Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy), in Zhejiang.

At present, the company has a total of 506.2 MW of installed offshore wind power capacity put into operation in the province.
