Vestas Commissions Its First-Ever Intertidal Wind Turbine

Vestas has commissioned its first-ever intertidal wind turbine at Bac Phuong JSC’s wind farm in Vietnam.

Last year, Vestas won a contract to supply 13 V150-4.2 MW turbines for the second phase of Bac Phuong JSC’s Dong Hai 1 intertidal wind project.

The order follows the company’s first contract with the project developer from 2019, under which it supplied 13 of its V150-4.2 MW turbines for the first phase of the intertidal wind project.

In this second phase, ten turbines will be in a 3.8 MW operating mode and three turbines in a 4.0 MW mode in order to optimize energy production for the site’s specific wind conditions.

The project, located off Bạc Liêu Province, in shallow waters of the Mekong Delta, will also feature customized towers placed on reinforced onshore foundations above sea level.

Once completed, the 100 MW Dong Hai 1 will be the largest intertidal wind project in Vietnam to date.
