Equinor and Polenergia Start Gauging Polish Offshore Wind Supply Chain Potential

Contracts & Tenders

Polenergia S.A. and Equinor have started preparations to develop the supply chain for the two offshore wind projects in the Polish Baltic Sea with a combined capacity of 1.44 GW.

Equinor

Polenergia and Equinor hold 50 per cent stakes each in MFW Bałtyk II Sp. z o.o. and MFW Bałtyk III Sp. z o.o., the special purpose companies developing the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III offshore wind projects.

The 720 MW Bałtyk II and the 720 MW Bałtyk III wind farms are located in areas approximately 27 and 40 kilometres from the port of Łeba in water depths of 20-40 metres.

Equinor will manage the development, construction, and operational phases of the two projects.

The developers will hold a series of online workshops in October to familiarize Tier 1 contractors with the local supply chain.

In total, four workshops will be held from 21 to 29 October each focussing on a different segment: wind turbines, foundations, electrical systems including onshore substations, and offshore substations.

The Bałtyk III wind farm is expected to deliver first power in 2025 and Bałtyk II in 2027.

Polenergia and Equinor are also jointly developing the 1,560 MW Bałtyk I offshore wind project.
