President and CEO of GE Renewable Energy’s Offshore Wind business John Lavelle has revealed details about the Haliade-X 12MW turbine to the Offshore WIND team during the inauguration ceremony held on 17 December in Rotterdam.
The Haliade-X 12MW prototype set a new world record the past weekend by being the first wind turbine ever to generate 262MWh of clean energy in 24 hours, enough to power 30,000 households in the region.
At the inauguration ceremony, it was revealed that the Dutch energy company Eneco is set to purchase all the electricity generated by the turbine prototype.
To remind, the third and final LM Wind Power 107m blade was installed on the turbine at Maasvlakte in mid-October. The world’s most powerful offshore wind turbine produced its first power at the beginning of November.
