New OWA Tender Seeks Corrosion Protection Research

The Carbon Trust’s Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) has opened a tender dedicated to corrosion protection for secondary steel components of offshore wind substructures.

The Carbon Trust

The selected party will be in charge of carrying out a study looking into all aspects of corrosion, including problem identification, available protection measures and mitigation options for secondary steel components and construction details on offshore wind substructures.

The study data will be used to develop industry guidance on the best options available and recommendations on best practice strategies for OWA partners.

Main objectives include exploring above water internal and external corrosion protection requirements and mitigation options, as well as researching the design and application of each option including reliability, in-service performance, repair needs and retrofit applicability.

Additionally, the aim of the study is constructing a corrosion protection and mitigation framework to inform the design of secondary steel components and identifying industry gaps and opportunities for further development.

The deadline for submitting applications is 27 August by 16:00 BST.
