Carbon Trust Opens Offshore Wind Research Tenders

The Carbon Trust has launched tenders seeking pre and post-construction energy yield analysis and floating component exchange studies as part of its Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) program.

The first tender seeks companies and consortia to undertake a study to understand the different approaches in comparing pre-construction energy yield assessments to post-construction analysis in offshore wind.

The key objective is to evaluate the current methodologies of conducting pre-construction energy yield assessments and post-construction analysis including the methodology used in comparing the two.

Interested parties are invited to submit their applications by 12 July at 17:30 BST.

In the second tender, the Carbon Trust looks for companies and consortia to assess the use of floating lift vessels for major component exchange during the O&M phase of bottom-fixed offshore wind farms.

Main objectives are to improve availability and flexibility of lifting operations, as well as to de-risk the use of floating heavy lift vessels in major component exchange operations for fixed bottom turbines.

In addition, the aim of the study is to assess the current stabilized heavy lift technologies including boom-end and pedestal compensation and investigate time and cost savings over conventional jack-up vessels.

The deadline for submitting applications is 16 July at 12:00 GMT+1.
