According to project developer Northland Power, NSW is loading out the cables at its facility in Nordenham, Germany, with cable laying, the next construction phase, also currently in motion by Van Oord’s vessel Nexus.

In February last year, Van Oord, the Balance of Plant contractor (BoP), awarded NSW with a contract to design, produce and deliver 45km of medium-voltage submarine power cables for the inter-array grid of Deutsche Bucht.

The 269MW Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm is located some 95km northwest of the Borkum Island in Germany.

It will comprise 33 MHI Vestas 8.4MW turbines installed on 31 monopile foundations and two mono bucket foundations expected to be fully operational by the end of the year.
