EEW Offshore Structures (Britain) Ltd. (EEW OSB) has completed the work scope for Ørsted’s Hornsea Project One offshore wind project.

EEW OSB

EEW OSB was tasked with manufacturing 86 out of 174 transition pieces (TPs) for the project. EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH (EEW SPC), EEW OSB’s parent company, is manufacturing the 174 monopiles for the wind farm.

The remaining TPs are being delivered by Bladt Industries (68), and Steelwind Nordenham with Wilton Engineering (20).

By early November 2018, 104 of the wind farm’s foundations were already in place.

Located 120km off the Yorkshire Coast in the UK, the 1.2GW Hornsea Project One will comprise 174 Siemens 7MW wind turbines, three offshore substations, and a reactive compensation substation (RCS).

Once fully operational in 2020, it will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world.
