Senvion Starts Trianel Work

German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion has started the production of the turbines for the 200MW Trianel Windpark Borkum II offshore wind farm.

In total, Senvion will manufacture and deliver 32 Senvion 6.2M152 units for the project in the German North Sea.

The turbines will be transported to the Orange Blue Terminal in Eemshaven, the storage and assembly base, from spring 2019 onward. They will be installed by Jan De Nul.

Located some 40 kilometres north of the island of Borkum, the Trianel Windpark Borkum II is expected to be constructed by autumn 2019 and commissioned by the end of that same year.

The installation of foundations and inter-array cables is currently ongoing at the site.

Senvion revealed the start of the turbine production for Trianel Windpark Borkum II in its results for the third quarter and the first nine months of 2018. The company’s revenues from the offshore wind segment in Q3 2018 were EUR 11.9 million.

For the first nine months of 2018, the offshore wind revenues stood at EUR 12.9 million, compared to EUR 217.5 million in revenues reported for the first nine months of 2017. The offshore order book stood at EUR 295 million at the end of September.
