VIDEO: Export Cable Pull In at Burbo Bank Extension

The export cable at the Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm has been pulled in.

The cable was floated ashore on pillow floats to a small jack up barge then pulled through the tidal and connected to a winch for the final 760-metre pull through a HDD that had been installed 12 months ago, according to Aerial Pixel, which published a video showing pull in works.

A joint venture between VolkerInfra and VBMS has been hired to execute the export cable landfall installation utilizing the trenchless Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) method. The first HDD activities started in May 2015.

Jan De Nul Group is in charge of installing and burying the 25km long export cable between the wind farm’s offshore substation and the beach. The OSS  left ENGIE Fabricom’s Hoboken yard last week and it is on its way to the offshore construction site.
