With the licence in place, the company developing the Galloper offshore wind farm is authorised to generate electricity in Great Britain, the territorial sea adjacent to Great Britain, or in a Renewable Energy Zone, “for the purpose of giving a supply to any premises or enabling a supply to be so given”.

Galloper offshore wind farm will comprise 56 Siemens 6 MW wind turbines. It is estimated that the average annual generation expected at the site will be equivalent to the approximate domestic needs of around 336,000 average UK households.

The project is located close to the existing offshore wind farm Greater Gabbard and is scheduled to become operational by March 2018.
