Vattenfall has selected MHI Vestas Offshore Wind as preferred supplier for the delivery of V164-8.0 MW turbines for the 400 MW Horns Rev 3 project off the west coast of Denmark.
As soon as the project translates into a firm and unconditional order, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind will disclose further details about this.
CEO Jens Tommerup said: “We are proud to announce that Vattenfall have appointed MHI Vestas Offshore Wind as preferred supplier for the Horns Rev 3 project. We are looking forward to working together on realising our firm belief of cost reduction in the offshore wind industry.”
The 400 MW Horns Rev 3 project is located off the west coast of Denmark and will contribute to Denmarks’ and the EUs’ goals’ to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2020. Vattenfall owns 60% of the Horns Rev 1 project, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind is currently working with Vattenfall to install the 50 MW Kentish Flats Extension project in the UK.
