Prontoport Launches Initiative for Unemployed

Prontoport a supplier of engineering services to the wind sector, recently launched it’s own RUK/GWO and ECITB Accredited Training Academy in cooperation with North Ayrshire Council and the Department of Works and Pensions.

The new initiative will aim to provide the medium to long term unemployed with new skills that will open up job opportunities for careers as a Wind Turbine Technician.

This innovative approach to training has been made possible by Team North Ayrshire partners including North Ayrshire Council, Scottish Enterprise and Job Centre Plus.

Councillor Marie Burns, Cabinet Member for Employment and Economy, said: “Prontoport’s story is another excellent example of how the Team North Ayrshire partners are helping companies with their ambitious business plans.

“The new training course will not only benefit existing technicians but will help local unemployed people who are looking to kick start their careers as Wind Turbine Technicians.”

Prontoport have held a series of open days where people can tour the facilities and talk to qualified technicians about all aspects of their role form the initial training to working on both on and offshore wind turbines.
