JBA Supports Swansea Bay Development

JBA Consulting, an environmental engineering company, is backing Tidal Lagoon Power in the development of Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project.

The company is supporting the project in the preparation of evidence for the discharge of the environmental DCO and Marine Licence conditions. They are also advising the Chinese Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) on the implementation of the environmental requirements to progress the marine works.

The world’s first purpose built tidal energy lagoon has been approved by the Energy Secretary, Amber Rudd. Tidal Lagoon Power have been developing and promoting this £1bn project in Swansea Bay for many months in anticipation of a positive decision on the Development Consent Order (DCO) on 9 June.

Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay (TLSB) will be the world’s first purpose built tidal energy lagoon. The renewable energy generating station will have a nominal rated capacity of 320 Mega Watts (MW) and will enclose part of Swansea Bay, from the eastern side of the River Tawe to the eastern edge of the new Swansea University Bay-Campus.
