VIDEO: Installation of 6MW Wind Turbine at Westermost Rough

A2SEA’s specialist jack-up vessel Sea Challenger has recently installed the last 6MW turbine at Westermost Rough.

Developed by Dong Energy the wind farm, comprising 35 turbines, can produce enough power to cover the annual electricity consumption of more than 150,000 households.

The wind turbines have three blades of 75 metres each and a total height of 177 metres. The three blades have a total blade span of 18,600 m2. All the wind turbines have produced the first power, but they still have to complete the final tests before we can officially declare the wind farm fully operational.

Westermost Rough has been constructed by DONG Energy, but it is owned by a joint venture between DONG Energy (50%) and the partners Marubeni Corporation (25%) and the UK Green Investment Bank (25%).

Watch the 1,46 minutes long time-lapse video of how we installed the wind turbines at Westermost Rough.
