First Wind Turbine Up at Eneco Luchterduinen

Yesterday, Van Oord’s transportation and installation vessel Aeolus placed the first wind turbine at Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm.

In the next few weeks, remaining 42 turbines will be installed and the wind farm is scheduled to be operational in August.

Components of the wind turbines (tower, nacelle, rotor blades) have been brought from different manufacturing sites to the port of Esbjerg, Denmark. Aeolus has the capacity to carry all parts of eight turbines at once and install them at sea.

The sailing time from Esbjerg to Luchterduinen is 30 hours. The installation of a wind turbine, including relocation of Aeolus, takes about a day.
