NJ BPU to Decide on Fishermen’s Energy Atlantic City Wind Farm

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) will vote on the Fishermen’s Energy proposal for a demonstration offshore wind project off the coast of Atlantic City on Friday.

Being rejected by the NJ BPU at the beginning of this year, the developer hopes that this time’s the charm, as in the meantime the project won the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) award of up to $46.7 million of funding.

Following the BPU’s decision to object the project in March, the developer filed an appeal to the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey. The court then ordered the BPU to reconsider its decision to reject Fishermen’s Energy Atlantic City Windfarm (FACW).

Construction in Atlantic City is planned to commence onshore in 2015, with offshore construction and commissioning expected to start in 2016.
