TÜV SÜD Certifies 600MW Gemini

Gemini is located in the Dutch exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the North Sea, around 85 kilometres off the coast north of the province of Groningen.

TÜV SÜD had already completed the review of the design documentation of the wind farm, which covered the support structures of the wind turbines – a total of 150 monopiles including the connection structures and steel towers. On behalf of Gemini, the international service provider has now also completed the certification of the two offshore sub-stations. This Certification comprised review of the design documentation and the geotechnical report as well as the review of the sub-stations’ support structures and topside platforms.

Ulrich Knopf, project manager at the Offshore Wind Energy department of TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH said: “For us, this fact also confirms our position as one of the world’s leading certification companies for onshore and offshore wind turbines and wind farms.” According to the TÜV SÜD expert, the excellent cooperation between the designer, the general contractor and Gemini was one of the essential requirements for the successful realisation of the two contracts.
