Offshore WIND’s photo of the day: The installation of the first wind turbine at RWE’s Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm.
The rotor blades for the Senvion 6MW wind turbine were not preassembled into a rotor spider, but were fitted to the hub at the Nordsee Ost construction site at sea.
The Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm, located about 30 kilometres north of the island of Heligoland, will feature 48 wind turbines – enough to supply around 300,000 households with power in a year. The installation of the turbines is scheduled to be completed this year and wind farm commissioning is expected to be carried out in September.
