Offshore Wind Development Boosts GEV

Great Yarmouth-based GEV Offshore is taking advantage of the booming offshore wind industry.

Offshore WInd Developments Boosts GEV“We worked on over 30 wind farms last year, both onshore and offshore, and 40 this year,“ said Managing Director David Fletcher, according to the Norwich Evening News 24.

However, as the work scope increases, so does the need for skilled workforce.

Last year, the company took on more than 20 apprentices and it plans to increase that number this year. It is already in discussions with Yarmouth College in order to secure new talents.

The company believes it will more than double its workforce of 120 staff over the next three years as the round three of offshore wind farm development enters the construction phase.

GEV’s personnel are highly trained and, according to Fletcher, the company has “invested £750,000 in training this year alone.”
