New Guidelines for Renewables Site Investigation to Be Introduced at Oceanology

Guidance on best practices for offshore renewables site investigations has been developed by the Offshore Site Investigation and Geotechnics (OSIG) committee of the Society of Underwater Technology (SUT) over the past few years.

These guidelines, prepared by a cross-industry sub-committee of OSIG, cover all forms of offshore renewables including wind and hydrokinetic devices and will be introduced at the Oceanology International conference in London this week.

Richard Orren, Global Technical Head of Senergy’s Survey & GeoEngineering group, will present these guidelines on behalf of the OSIG sub-committee on Thursday, 13 March.

Mr. Orren will introduce the guidelines in a keynote speech during the ‘Hydrography and Geophysics – Offshore Site Investigations’ session. Entitled ‘Guidance Notes for the Planning and Execution of Geophysical and Geotechnical Ground Investigations for Offshore Renewable Energy Developments’, the presentation will kick off the first section of the session.

Oceanology International, which runs from 11-13 March in London, will see over 525 exhibitors from 35 countries, covering the whole range of marine technologies and services.
