CRMC Gives Thumbs Up to Block Island Project

Coastal Resources Management Council raised no objection to the Deepwater Wind’s wind energy project offshore Block Island, thus removing another hurdle in the  realisation of this project, writes the Providence Journal.

The council released a report listing 17 recommendations, including the one to protect the North Atlantic Right whales, to which Deepwater Wind had already agreed to.

The company plans to build 30MW Block Island Wind Farm consisting of 5 wind turbines, which will be able to power 17,000 homes.
